My husband and I come here frequently. He has sciatic, psoas pain and I have all sorts of pain (tmj, neck, back, metatarsalgia, de quervain, etc lol). He discovered this thru yelp, after trying out numerous massage services in the bay area & weve almost given up. We never considered going to a Chiro either. Thai massage is hard massage, we just couldn't get anywhere else. We tried many other massage places but we always come back here. Unlike other massage places, any staff you get here will give you the same effect, and no one is not good enough or no single staff stands out cause any of them does. There's no one massager that you need to wait for to get an appointment. We call to schedule an appt but we never request for anyone and still get the same results. Their massage is like assisted yoga, take a pause here and imagine that...I mean, dont drink anything with milk or whipped cream, if youre even slightly lactose intolerant...before the sesh...if u get what i mean. Their restroom is nice too. The trick is to not resist but to trust, give in and relax your body while they're doing their thing. We call this our "therapy". We do feel like newborns every after session, ready to go back to our desk jobs, fresh. Sometimes, after the massage, we eat at the next door Vietnamese restaurant. It feels like a mini quick vacation.

Wow! Thank you again, Yelpers! I've been dying for a massage, but I've been so busy in addition to my therapist being on vacation at my usual spot (right upstairs). I called last night when I finished work and asked for an 8p appointment for 90 minutes and boom, appointment was made - 5 Stars right there. Upon walking in, I was greeted by 2 females who were both very nice, gave me compliments, which again, earned 5 stars; I came after work in scrubs, and I knew I looked like crap lol! We chit chatted for a few minutes and she escorted me right into the room. The bed was so amazingly soft! I swear the massage beds have down stitched into it somewhere. I waited a few minutes and a lady walked in, but I didn't get her name. The massage started off rather mediocre, kind of like a first blind date where you don't expect much. We talked the whole time, and I was totally fine with that, and about 30 minutes in I thought - meh, nothing great. She started working towards my legs, but I had told her in the beginning that my shoulders were the culprit of my pain for over a month. Mid conversation I politely asked to refocus on my shoulders and THAT'S when the magic happened. She worked them bad boys like a scorned ex gf. I'm hurting today, but I feel so much better. Granted, not ALL my pain is gone, but I feel much more comfortable going through my day today. I will gladly return! Thank you for a great first time experience.
Thai massage therapy requires extensive training, and the preeminent place for it is Wat Po in Bangkok. The school offers three certification levels, with the third one alone requiring 800 hours. (Graduates are issued a certificate from the Thailand Ministry of Public Health.) There are numerous programs around the world with solid training as well, but many die-hard therapists make the pilgrimage to Thailand to acquire at least some authentic knowledge base.
So glad I came here yesterday. I typically go to a Thai massage down the street but they were not available. So I tried this place out. The owner knows how to run her business and her staff was on point. My massage therapist, Hannah was a sweetheart and she made me very comfortable. Her authentic Thai style massage was incredible. I even loved taking a shower in the shower room after my scrub. The clean towels were so soft and smelled good. Excellent level of cleanliness here.

Usually, the masseuse will make it more or less intense depending on a person’s size and age. In case they seem to be unaware of the pain they are inflicting, tell them jep, which means hurt.
I wish I could give a good review. Unfortunately that is not the case. I was asked how I would like the massage and I explained explicitly that I had a lower back issue and that area was not to have pressure on it. The main focus of the massage ended up being my lower back. I asked not to go hard on that area and yet the therapist continued to put pressure in that area to the point that I was brought to tears from pain. Not one moment was enjoyed and now I am unable to get out of bed from the pain. I do not recommend this place as they do not listen to their clients. On top of that a tip was requested, Which I found to be quite upfront and inappropriate as the service was not what I wanted.

In the recent report on Thai traditional massage, Yoopat et al. reported their observation on three varieties of Thai traditional massage and concluded that “some forearm fatigue was decreased significantly among the three massage techniques.” In fact, Thai traditional massage is a widely used massage technique in Thailand and is presently accepted by the Thai Ministry of Public Health. The technique can be described to be a kind of acupressure massage. Kumnerddee noted that Thai traditional massage was effective in bringing about muscle relaxation but that the technique was inferior to the worldwide well-known Chinese acupuncture.
Proprioceptive studies are much more abundant than massage and proprioception combined, yet researchers are still trying to pinpoint the exact mechanisms and pathways involved to get a fuller understanding. Proprioception may be very helpful in rehabilitation, though this is a fairly unknown characteristic of proprioception, and "current exercises aimed at 'improving proprioception' have not been demonstrated to achieve that goal".
