After I come here my entire body hurts for a few days after. Once the pain goes away I feel the difference and how my back indeed feels much better. After 7-10 days the pain comes back and I try to get another massage (I don't always come here though). I have been here a few times, most of the times waking in and never requested anyone in particular. All therapists I had were great. The technique and the way the massage is done is very similar and everyone was very good.
Tui Na massage is one of the most popular forms of Chinese medical massages in the modern day world. It involves deep massage techniques that are applied over the whole body in many repetitions, especially the back. Tui Na medical massages are excellent for treating ailments such as chronic pains, musculoskeletal problems, sprains and strains, arthritis, problems of the digestive system, liver and the spleen.

You definitely need to make an appointment. Thai massages are amazing, but if you've never had one be aware they put a lot of pressure on your back. They step on it, use elbows, anything they can to get to the problem. Yes, you will be sore the next day, and maybe the day after. But I assure you I only need to do this once a month as a necessary "mom massage." Being of Thai descent I can tell you they do an amazing job and worth every penny.

The BEST Thai massage I've ever had. My bf said the same thing so I'm pretty sure no matter who you get they'll be amazing! We went for the traditional massage with no oil for 90 minutes and that felt like the perfect amount of time. We paid about 150 usd for the both of us before tip.  Read the tips on how to find the place, I found that really helpful. And don't forget to tip! They speak enough English so you don't feel like communication is a problem. I'll for sure be back whenever I'm in Tokyo. Go here , you won't regret it!

A Thai massage is an ancient form of healing that combines the concepts of yoga and energetic Chinese practices. About 2,500 years ago, Buddhism spread from India to Thailand. Along with this increasingly popular spiritual practice came a form of healing that had taken root in the community of Buddhists. When these new ideas reached the shores of Thailand, they mixed with the Chinese concept of the energetic body that was already being practiced.
There may be other possible adverse effects which need to be focussed upon, such as the risk of fracture due to rough massage. One example is a report from Malaysia on serious spine fracture resulting in spinal cord compression due to traditional massage (Malaysia is a country geographically close to Thailand and shares a few traditional medical practices).[5] There can also be neurological side effects due to massage and need investigation. Although there has never been any official report about this, the problem of brain hemorrhage in infants due to traditional massage applied to the mothers during pregnancy has been reported.[6,7] In fact, application of traditional massage to infants can directly cause testes hemorrhage and such other internal hemorrhages in infants.[8] Finally, the risk of embolism due to applying massage to carotid area needs to be mentioned.[9] This can be the cause of cardiac arrhythmias and cerebrovascular accidents[10] that can further result in sudden death (in the latest indexed case, this cannot be rule out to be a cause). It will be of interest to note that in the present clinical practice, there are no guidelines for the practitioners for history taking and monitoring of vital signs of the patient before, during and after massage.

Massage developed alongside athletics in both Ancient China and Ancient Greece. Taoist priests developed massage in concert with their Kung Fu gymnastic movements, while Ancient Greek Olympians used a specific type of trainer ("aleiptes")[25] who would rub their muscles with oil. Pehr Ling's introduction to massage also came about directly as a result of his study of gymnastic movements.
We apologize for your wait time experience during your visit. While we are happy that you loved your service, we are in the process of training new front desk for this reason. We are grateful for our growth that will, at times, make us busy at the front. We have taken your concerns to heart and created an alternative for times when we are busy, (which is a sign of growth). Thank you for your positive review as we would't know how to better ourselves if we do not know.
This is an awesome massage place. After a long road trip ended up in this massage center. First off all the staff are really friendly and super look and very knowledgeable about therapy. The lemon grass tea is awesome at the end. The massage is really a great relief on overall and very nice technique in handling nerves. Had different levels of pressure with different techniques in Thai massage. Over all it's a great massage and great experience in a wonderful panama trip.

Came here on a Sunday for my first Thai massage ever! My therapist was Eva–it was quite enjoyable, not sure if it was “amazing” since it was my first one. I had the Thai-Swedish combo and I felt like they could have worked on my back more though. The ladies were very nice, and the ambience pretty relaxing, I would definitely come back for the price and location, and happy hours are weekdays $45 before 2:00 pm. Free street parking on Sunday, otherwise they have a lot in the back, but limited parking spots. Overall did the job and got the relaxation I was overdue for!

We are very faithful to the Thai massage tradition and therefore we try to evoke past eras through touch. After all, muscle manipulation is one of the most effective ancient techniques that has lasted until our times. Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today, especially because the feeling of pain can get worse and prevention is better than cure.
This is the best massage i have ever had. It was the first Thai massage i have had and i was greatly surprised on all the techniques used. My hole body felt relaxed after she stretched my body, used hot stones, massaged , and walked on my back. The whole staff was professional and very friendly. I would highly recommend getting a massage from this business.
In fact, the history of Thai massage is more complex than this legend of a single founder would suggest. Thai massage, like Thai traditional medicine (TTM) more generally, is a combination of influences from Indian, Chinese, Southeast Asian cultural spheres, and traditions of medicine, and the art as it is practiced today is likely to be the product of a 19th-century synthesis of various healing traditions from all over the kingdom.[6] Even today, there is considerable variation from region to region across Thailand, and no single routine or theoretical framework that is universally accepted among healers.
Having been to Thailand and experiencing what a real deep tissue massage, this Thai spa is the closest you can get without actually going to Thailand. The wifey and I walked-in without an appointment on a Saturday afternoon and we were seen within 3 minutes. We both got the 60 minute deep tissue and they spent there time rubbing out all the knots. The masseuses spend a quite amount of time back walking utilizing Ashiatsu barefoot massage method. I was amazed that s he did get all the knots out in my calves that I never even knew were there. My legs felt like jelly after and noticeable wobbly the next day. When she did work on my upper back, she able to press out the knots above my shoulder blades, painful yet wonderful. The one thing my wife and I did not like was the bed did feel a bit damp and oily from past customers. Besides that fact, definitely worth the massage. You got spend a little more to get a real deep massage. Now I know the difference of going to those $20-30 massage spa's, you pay for what you get.
While on vacation in Las Vegas, my upper back, shoulders, and neck were starting to get tired/tight from me lugging around my camera gear (DSLR camera, battery grip/pack, & speedlight flash) around my neck for 4 days at roughly 4 hours each day. My legs and feet were also tired from all the walking, standing, and running on the Strip. I was looking for a massage and the place that I was staying at offered massages but I found the prices to be too expensive. I had also tried the water massage beds offered in some malls (including the Showcase Mall) and although those water massage beds were relaxing, I preferred a more firm, deep tissue type massage to try to get rid of the knots that I was sure were building up in my shoulders & upper back. As luck would have it, there was a discussion forum about firm, deep tissue massages in the Las Vegas Talk forum. I checked out the prices and the review and called to make an appointment. Even factoring the Lyft ride to/from the place, I calculated the price to be less than how much it would cost me to get a similar type massage at the place I was staying at or any Strip hotel spa. I arrived early and was told that I should come back in ~30 minutes. Since the temperature was cold outside, I asked if I could stay inside and there wasn't an issue. I was told that I could lay on the bed while I waited but I decided I would just sit there. I used the Yelp app on my phone to check in and there was a discount. I spoke with the person behind the counter about the discount and I was informed that because I wanted a 90 minute massage and the 90 minute massage was already discounted, it would not apply. When the person was ready I was escorted to the room. Inside the room there were 2 massage beds. I was asked how long I wanted and I mentioned that I wanted 90 minutes. I was then asked to undress and go underneath the towel. I was told that this place also specializes in back walking so I requested a few minutes of that. Above the massage tables are 2 bars so the massage therapist can hold on as to not apply all her weight on the customer. I thought that I could handle firm massages but Kim gave me one of the firmest, deep tissue massages that I've ever experienced. The oil that she used had a burning and soothing feeling to it. Part of the 90 minute massage also involved stretching certain muscles. At the end of the 90 minutes, even though I was a little bit sore from the deep tissue massage, I felt a lot better. When the massage was over, I got dressed, went to the front counter, and paid as well as left a tip. While I used the Lyft app on my phone to get ride to get back to the Strip, I was offered a loyalty card. The only thing about the loyalty card is that it was created/made for 60 minute massages and not 90 minute massages since a 90 minute massage only gets 1 stamp on the card. If you like firm (deep tissue) massages, this is the place to go.

I had heard so many positive things about this place from friends, but am not really into the walking on my back and popping my joints scene so I avoided it.  Fast forward to today my lower back was in so much pain I could barely move.  My normal massage guy was booked, so I relented.  BEST DECISION!!  Noy eased by back pain, and eliminated knots I didn't even know I had.  I will be going back here soon.  Noy was magic.
One of the most remarkable healing techniques on the planet. Works with the pulses of the energy pathways known as meridians in Chinese medicine. The term tui na (pronounced "twee naw"), which literally means "pinch and pull," refers to a wide range of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapeutic massage and body work. People in the West may refer to Chinese massage as tui na.

We must admit, there was a snafu in our system not correctly do the time slot which created that unfortunate situation. We check every appointment, and you, unfortunately, booked it less than an hour ahead which is not supposed to happen. We also had on top lately customers who are booking online and not showing off, which is for us a predicament and we would say almost 90% who are booking an hour beforehand tend never to show up or are very late.  We are also short staffed right now and, especially on Saturday's, our business is very much a bit overwhelmed with clients.
The founder of Thai massage and medicine is said to have been Shivago Komarpaj (ชีวกโกมารภัจจ์ Jīvaka Komarabhācca), who is said in the Pāli Buddhist canon to have been the Buddha's physician over 2,500 years ago. He is noted in ancient documents for his extraordinary medical skills, his knowledge of herbal medicine, and for having treated important people of his day, including the Buddha himself.[5]
After numerous recommendations I finally booked an appt. The staff was very attentive very knowledgeable and I feel like a million bucks. I have only had one other massage that compares and that was at one of the top massage houses in Japan I give them five stars. You won’t be disappointed my therapist name is Kitty don’t be fooled by her size she has some power in those fingers. Don’t make the same mistake I did and procrastinate call today for and appointment.

3. Pull as much as you push. North Americans are accustomed to massages that involve using pressure, but Vietnamese massage takes it one step further and also incorporates a lot of pulling. Tugging at the limbs is a different way of encouraging blood circulation and also helps to reset joints. Hold your partner’s limb at the wrist and elbow or ankle and knee, and pull toward you. Also try slightly twisting the limb and pulling in various directions.
I just went here for a one hour Swedish-Thai massage. My masseuse was Nista. I am pretty sure that was one of the best massages I have ever had. I asked for medium pressure and she was right on point. She checked in with me at the start of the session, because I had indicated I wanted attention placed on my back on the entry form. I confirmed that's where I would like her to spend most of her time and she did. That was really cool. I know it sounds simple, but every time I fill out those forms they never ask me to confirm and I end up getting a total body massage with attention never placed in one single area as I had hoped. I want to try the hot stone massage next!

Another amazing experience at my hands down favorite place. Drove an hour to get here and it was EVERYTHING I expected. Booked 90 minutes and enjoyed every second. I got walked on, cupped, every kink in my body was worked on and it was amazing. Word of advice, if you want something - ASK FOR IT. Yes, people don't speak English perfectly. Yes, people have different cultural quirks that may seem rude to us. However, I have learned to walk in and literally say exactly what I want. I walked in and told Summer: I want you to walk on me, use your knees, feet, etc. I want cupping, and I want you to not hold back at all. My headache, back tension, knots, and all my stress...GONE! I went home and slept like a baby. 100% satisfaction and an amazing , fantastic place!

Came to Siam Orchid because my friend strongly recommended it. We went together, she had a great experience with a therapist called Pancake. Mine therapist was not as strong as Pancake. (Forgot her name) She couldn't give me the right points pressure. After all, I have been doing massage for over 15 years I know what the best is. I still would like to give it 5 stars because it's a very nice and clean place. You absolutely feel relaxed after having 1 hour massage. Lighting, background music and decoration are perfect here. I would also like to have another try next time.
I made my appointment last minutes for my sister bday present, the owner was very helpful and happily squeezing us in their pack schedule. She was very considerate and went out of her way to make sure we got the right masseuse according on how we would like our massage. We felt welcomed from the beginning when we got there to the end of our visit. The room was very relaxing, clean, and orderly. Fresh robes were also provided while waiting. The masseuse was perfect, asked through out the whole process to make sure they were giving the right pressure. The owner even checked in on us to make sure we were well taken care of. Before we left we were offered tea and the ginger tea was decadent . Thanks to this great experience I had recommended them to my friend and myself to  visit them monthly.
This ancient therapy is old, and we mean dating back some 2,500 years. Its origin is said to have come from India, during the time of the Buddha. The physician to the Buddha, Shivago Komarpaj, is said to have created the Thai massage. As Buddhism slowly started to make its way to Thailand, the massage technique came with it. Thai traditional massages were, and still are, used in conjunction with other traditional medicines.
I highly recommend Chinese Traditional Massage.  I booked a one hour Tui-Na Massage - Level II.  My body has been rather tight with knots and the massage that I got today really broke up those knots and the added stretching and cupping helped with the tightness I have been experiencing.  I felt much more relaxed after my session.  I look forward to my next session there.
Thai massage typically works with compression — rhythmic pressing movements directed into muscle tissues by either the hand or fingers. Thai massage usually takes place on a futon mat on the floor, with the client wearing loose or stretchy clothing like yoga gear. The therapist is also on the mat and moves your body into various stretches and positions, without any work on your part. This is why it is sometimes called "lazy man's yoga". Thai massage can be both relaxing and energizing, so it is a good choice if you want to be active after your massage.
Half-Locust Variation: Lifting the client’s knee and rocking back, press her heel toward her buttocks. It is important to use a rocking motion and not muscular strength. This stretches the iliopsoas and quadriceps and provides spinal extension and compression, opening up the lumbar area. It relieves lower back pain and helps correct anterior pelvic tilt.
This is a wonderful extensive Thai Yoga Massage reference. The steps are clearly explain; sometime multiple version are offered. Pratical , methodical and time proven technique from the Northern Style Massage based on the founder of The Old Medicine Hospital in Chiang Mai the major city in Northern Thailand. Definitelyone of those references book that you come back to over and over and find a new depth of information's.
AD 1878: Dutch massage practitioner Johan Georg Mezger applies French terms to name five basic massage techniques,[13] and coins the phrase "Swedish massage system". These techniques are still known by their French names (effleurage (long, gliding strokes), petrissage (lifting and kneading the muscles), friction (firm, deep, circular rubbing movements), tapotement (brisk tapping or percussive movements), and vibration (rapidly shaking or vibrating specific muscles)).
I was pretty excited to visit Erawan based on the great reviews it received.  However, the masseuse… I was pretty excited to visit Erawan based on the great reviews it received.  However, the masseuse twisted my neck too hard (or in a wrong way?) during one of the Thai massage stretches.  I woke up the next day with a ton of neck soreness, but I tried to shrug it off as normal post-massage soreness.  But ever since the day after until now (5 days later), the pain has been excruciating and I've barely been able to move my neck.  To make matters worse, I was here in Japan for my honeymoon so it made it really hard for me to enjoy the week.  Visitors beware! Do you want a real professional massage? Well, this is the place. I would not go anywhere else. I have tried a few spots and they were not even close to the quality and comfort this place offers. These ladies are awesome and magical. I personally like stronger/deep tissue massage and Thai Spa Massage 2 never disappoints me. They always ask what area to focus on and work out any knots they finds. Place is very clean and comfortable. Staff is super friendly. Price of $70 may seem high for Vegas but it is worth every penny. To me this quality of massage is very hard to find and usually typical for high end resorts.

This place can be heavenly with the right massage therapist!!! My body tends to be tight and I really need that deep tissue, good pain that comes from very strong pressure, which is why I seek Thai body massage. Anna is absolutely amazing, excellent at deep tissue/ strong pressure massage--a true healer. Anna likes to help people feel better and her intuitive massage skills, vibe and words confirm this. Anna is very strong and called herself a "knot buster," which is wonderful and true! She found knots and sore spots and broke them. I feel so much better in my body. I've been to her a few times and left very happy and satisfied each time. If you don't like intense pressure and pain therefrom, Marisa is better for you. One day I got a Groupon (15 min foot, 60 min thai body massage, and steam room access) and went to book with someone Yelp said did deep tissue well, rainy, because Anna wasn't available. I booked with rainy but was given Marisa, whose massage was nice but gentler and did not meet my expectations for extreme deep pressure and good therapeutic pain from tension dissolving in knots. I later found out if you're asked if you prefer a male or female massage therapist at check in, when you already booked a particular person online, then you won't be getting who you requested, so double check who you're getting if that happens to you if you're expecting to get a specified massage therapist. After I expressed I didn't feel satisfied from that massage with Marisa because I needed more pressure, the owner / manager was extremely concerned that I was disappointed by a gentler massage and enticed me to come back to get the type of massage my body needed! I've been to well over 100 different massage places and Siam orchid Thai massage has the best customer service. No proprietor has ever been so concerned or kind after my experience was not great. I am very impressed and appreciate them. The foot massage was gentler, not like some other places where I start to sweat from the pain/stimulation of imbalanced acupressure points. Super relaxing and firm(not ticklish). The ambience is very nice, all wooden with orchids with incense or candles scent wafting about and steam coming out of a humidifier in the hallway. The room itself for massage is nice: private, spacious with relaxing zen music playing. You don't really hear any other movement or customers in the hallway. Very tranquil ambience. They pay attention to cute and chill details. You get some loose pajamas to wear. If you can, I recommend the steam room access. After the massage you bring your stuff to the back where the steam room is. Looked clean. There are locks and lockers to stow your belongings. I noticed they had flat iron and curling iron to touch up your hair.
Medical Massage is a controversial term in the massage profession.[50] Many use it to describe a specific technique. Others use it to describe a general category of massage and many methods such as deep tissue massage, myofascial release and triggerpoint therapy as well as osteopathic techniques, cranial-sacral techniques and many more can be used to work with various medical conditions.[51]
This is such an unusual place. Not sure how they got all these fabulous reviews. The first time I decided to try it, I called and made an appointment. The woman who answered the phone didn't really speak english, so when I told her that I wanted to make an appointment she kept saying "ok ok ok". I felt that she didn't understand. I showed up to the appointment the following day and the person at the front was so confused when I told her I had an appointment. Needless to say she begrudgingly took me back to a room and left. Another woman comes in and starts massaging. As she is massaging I notice loud chewing sounds. Turns out she was chewing gum loudly and popping it too! I had never experienced anything like that during a msaage! The massage itself was ok with deep pressure, and they offered cupping therapy. They never bother to ask you why you are there or what your preferences are. Even when I kept asking her to focus on my neck and shoulders she just tried to follow her own routine and seemed annoyed. I decided to give it another try, so called again to make an appointment, and sure enough a woman answered and seemed confused when I requested the appointment. I asked if summer was there since I read great reviews about her. The woman started yelling at me!!! Honestly this place is so shady and unprofessional, I don't know how hell they got all these supposed stellar reviews on multipe sites like tripadvisor and thumbtack. For 70$ you can find so many other wonderful, professional and attentive massage places in the area.

Massage practitioners work in a variety of medical settings and may travel to private residences or businesses.[10] Contraindications to massage include deep vein thrombosis, bleeding disorders or taking blood thinners such as Warfarin, damaged blood vessels, weakened bones from cancer, osteoporosis, or fractures, and fever.[10]

I found this place a few months ago and it has since become a favorite spa to visit. I have lived/worked in China many years and know exactly what high level, well-trained, quality Chinese bodywork is. I've had every style performed many, many times. I usually visit Lily. We are now good friends, can practice Chines/English together during our sessions and know each other well. From the very first time I came to Chinese Traditional Massage, Lily was very friendly, professional, found out about all my past surgeries and did a great appointment. I visit about once a week. I always look forward to seeing Lily and having another great visit with her. Hey laoban...Xia Yun anmo feichong, feichong hao he ta shi hen li mao. Wo juede Xia Yun hen mei li...ke yi le? Due to the great reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We were able to easily make an appointment via email with the company for the next day at the Asakusa Temple location. This location was a little tough to find, however, the pictures and description on the website did help some. Cell service wasn't great so we weren't able to look up the entrance specifics which certainly was a hassle! The place is up on the second floor behind the Mini Stop convenience store. We were immediately greeted by the staff with a jasmine scented cool wash cloth and cold ice water. After a cursory questionnaire and review of massage services, we were led to a Thai style massage mat. It is firmer and on the floor for the therapy. They have you change into a loose fit outfit before starting. We opted for the Leelavadee 150min combo. It was divine! Both the Thai massage and the essential oil deep tissue massage was great. Be forewarned that with the oil deep tissue, they are very liberal with the oil! It gets everywhere. Their massages are tailored to your particular concerns. The therapy ends with another jasmine scented wash cloth and ice cold water. We whole heartedly recommend this place. It is incredibly clean which is also a winning point. The ladies are strong and you will get a great massage! The prices are very reasonable! Don't hesitate! Make an appointment with them if you get the chance. We certainly will when we return to Tokyo.
Well the only ones to leave a positive review here has to be family and friends. After I told my 1sf therapist as a walk in that I had lots of lower back and hip pain she started treament by after 5 min she had a more important client walk in so I was pushed off to someone who never heard why I was there. After 10-15 min of a kitty cat pawing treatment I was suppose to be happpy. I asked to pay more For a deep tissue treatment but she said she didn't understand the English I was speaking. Of chourse 2 min after that she knew "do u pay cash" and "how much tip" "how much tip?' Stay away and get a professional

In the end, I didn't feel any more relaxed than I did when I stepped in for our appointment. I seriously paid nearly $100 per person for this??? I've felt wayyy more blissed out after rigorous sessions of cardio and weight lifting and strength training at the gym than here. I don't think I'll be coming back, unfortunately. But I'm sure they don't need my business, they have plenty of other 5 star reviews from other reviewers here.
Reflexology also known as "zone therapy", is an alternative medicine involving application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a pseudoscientific[57] system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work effects a physical change to the body.[58]
In India, massage therapy is licensed by The Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (India) in March 1995. Massage therapy is based on Ayurveda, the ancient medicinal system that evolved around 600 BC. In ayurveda, massage is part of a set of holistic medicinal practices, contrary to the independent massage system popular in some other systems. In Siddha, Tamil traditional medicine from south India, massage is termed as "Thokkanam" and is classified in to nine types, each for specific variety of disease.

An integral part of traditional Thai medicine is the use of herbs during a Thai Massage. Thai people apply this belief and benefit Thai herbal treatments as tools for relaxation and disease prevention. Our Traditional Thai Herb Ball contains a blend of many Thai herbs, whose essential oils are transferred to the skin when applied to the body with heat and pressure, thus reducing muscular tension and increasing blood circulation, as well as, improving skin appearance.
In addition there are many professional bodies which have a required minimum standard of education and hold relevant insurance policies including: the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT),[111] the Complementary Therapists Association (CThA),[112] and the Complementary Health Professionals (CHP).[113] In contrast to the CNHC these bodies exist to support therapists rather than clients.

This was my first visit and I really enjoyed the massage. My friend and I called the same day and they were able to get us in a couple of hours later. I forgot my massage therapist's name but she was awesome. I highly recommend getting the massage that includes the hot stones. I like this massage place as compared to your typical massage businesses because they incorporate a lot of stretching. At the end of the massage, they spend about 5 minutes or so stretching your arms, legs, back and neck. It was amazing!
Whoa! Did that just happen? Mind blown! Datchy was not playing games. Easily one of the best massages I've ever had and I've had a lot of massage.  Don't be the last to know. She's an artist. If I had to find something to complain about it would have to be the frigid temp. She made every attempt to keep me covered by multiple blankets but it was still chilly chill chill.

Thai massage originated in India and is based on ayurveda( incorporates yoga, meditation and herbal remedies) and yoga. The technique combines massage with yoga-like positions during the course of the massage; the northern style emphasizes stretching while the southern style emphasizes acupressure. Book an appointment at Mantra Wellness Centre to receive the most tranquil and soothing Thai massage in Calgary.

Because Thai massage is done fully clothed, some people recommend it if you feel uncomfortable with the nudity. However, Thai massage is not the best choice for first-time spa-goers. Why? First, you're going to be lying on a futon with a therapist crouched over you, pressing on your legs, just to start. They might use the weight of their body to move your body into various positions to achieve passive stretching.

Peer-reviewed medical research has shown that the benefits of massage include pain relief, reduced trait anxiety and depression, and temporarily reduced blood pressure, heart rate, and state of anxiety.[79] Additional testing has shown an immediate increase and expedited recovery periods for muscle performance.[80] Theories behind what massage might do include enhanced skeletal muscle regrowth and remodeling,[81] blocking nociception (gate control theory),[82] activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which may stimulate the release of endorphins and serotonin, preventing fibrosis[83] or scar tissue, increasing the flow of lymph, and improving sleep.[10][84]
Sometimes confused with pressure point massage,[10] this involves deactivating trigger points that may cause local pain or refer pain and other sensations, such as headaches, in other parts of the body. Manual pressure, vibration, injection, or other treatment is applied to these points to relieve myofascial pain. Trigger points were first discovered and mapped by Janet G. Travell (President Kennedy's physician) and David Simons. Trigger points have been photomicrographed and measured electrically[70] and in 2007 a paper was presented showing images of Trigger Points using MRI.[71] These points relate to dysfunction in the myoneural junction, also called neuromuscular junction (NMJ), in muscle, and therefore this technique is different from reflexology, acupressure and pressure point massage.

1. Build strength and endurance. A Vietnamese massage is known for being powerful and initially tough on the skin and body. The benefits for your partner come after the session is done. As the masseuse, your entire body needs to be fully ready for the challenge before you even think about giving this type of massage. Lift weights and include cardiovascular activity in your routine so that your massages will be strong and will be able to last the full 60 minutes of a typical Vietnamese massage session.

After a quick foot soak and brush we were taken to our private room with 2 beds and asked to get ready. What an experience! For someone who's used to having the odd massage at a beauty salon or spa, Ive never really seen what the deal was, they never did anything for me and I just felt oily after. What a difference! This is the best Ive felt in a long time! Such a great massage, as I was feeling a bit tight, I asked not for a full body massage, but a focus on a back, neck and shoulders. Ive never felt pain like it, or heard as many clicks or crunches buy oh my was it worth it!
The benefits of receiving a Thai massage are vague, at best. While it is easy to say that Thai massages are good for you in the short-term, any scientific evidence backing this information is certainly lacking. That being said, there are some obvious benefits. For one, it feels incredible. It relieves stress and tension in joints and muscles. It is also very good for those of you feeling stiff, especially during travel, as you are stretched throughout the massage.
I have gotten a number of massages over the course of my life. None are in the same league as Siam Thai. The actual location atop the Century Center is well designed and calming. My masseuse was a woman named Amy. I requested hard pressuee, and boy did she deliver. For those that have not done had Thai massage before, it is unbelievably executed. The above was my original review which culminated in a 5 star rating. But I have to drop it to 4 stars now. I had bought a gift certificate off their website, which was to be emailed to my brother as a gift. However my brother never received the email. That is fine and understandable. However for the past couple days, they ignored my email, Yelp message and text message. I decided to call. On the phone they tried to dodge things still, which seemed questionable at best (possibly shady). However supposedly they will honor the order confirmation that I received. Again the issue is not that my brother did not receive the email. It was everything that followed.

Pleasantly surprised once I stepped inside! Immediately I was greeted, served hot tea (which is delicious - I had a few cups during my time!) and led back to the steam room within minutes. The bathroom area is older style, however seems clean and equipped with the basics (including lockers w provided keys). The clothing you're given to wear is definitely not something I would ever pick out for myself, but it suited the purpose and I figured I wouldn't run into anyone important. After I sweated it out in the steam room, I enjoyed a Thai/foot massage with Mary. I've never had a Thai massage before and it's definitely a different experience. I wouldn't say it's as relaxing as a Swedish massage but certainly helps loosen up tight muscles. In the form I filled out at check in, I specified strong pressure and wasn't disappointed! Would go again. Read more
Our work is not an easy one but rewarding if we succeed in making our clients not just much better but decisively more happier. We pay attention to our clients if they let us do our craft, as you did, then we get these results if we do what we do best and that is our ancient ways to do the Tui-Na massage as it should be applied, but so many do not do.

These ladies are very talented! They do the most amazing deep tissue, detox and stretching massage! I've been now about 5 times and they have some amazing skills. Hint: have them walk on your back, it's the real deal. Very professional and always a relaxing treat when the tension knots are really deep and a regular massage just won't do. Come see these ladies! They won't disappoint.
Gabi M: "Do you want to join me for a massage after dinner?" Me: "Of course!" (I'm not one to ever pass up a relaxing massage) Gabi: "It's a thai massage so I'm not sure you'll like it" Me: "A massage? What's not to like" Hours later I'm ready for my relaxing massage and a few minutes in I realize thai massages are NOT my usual relaxing massage. The masseuse is literally kneeling on my back getting every single knot (and I have a lot of them!) out while I say "ouch" about every 3 seconds. She continues to tell me "relax" throughout the massage and I continue to respond with "ouch." She then asks me if I want her to walk on my back..."umm no thank you!" An hour later I have every knot out of my body, but I wonder how anyone could stand more than 60 minutes of this torture. I paid my $90 + tip, enjoyed a small cup of decaffeinated tea and headed back to the hotel for a lovely night of kid free sleep. The next morning I woke up with such sore shoulders although after an hour of (additional) torture at Barry's Boot Camp felt really good. In fact, I may even make a trip to Siam Orchard a regular thing during my monthly trips to SF.

A little strange, I've had massages elsewhere and this one has to be the worst, dare I say. Don't get me wrong I'm sure the ladies who work there work hard but they were a little pushy for my liking. We were told to take off our shoes ready for our foot wash in warm soapy water in a sink tub. (Which I'm pretty sure used washing up liquid not body soap as I could smell it)
The best Thai massage I ever had! I little far from My home but will drive that far for a massage. The owner is very nice and her staff are well trained, courteous and made me so relaxed. The whole experience too all the kinks out of my whole body. You should try the Herbal Ball. I will go back all the time and I highly recommend going to this place.

Ergonomic chairs serve a similar function as a massage table. Chairs may be either stationary or portable models. Massage chairs are easier to transport than massage tables, and recipients do not need to disrobe to receive a chair massage. Due to these two factors, chair massage is often performed in settings such as corporate offices, outdoor festivals, shopping malls, and other public locations.

I'm glad we did. This was the best massage I've ever had. My husband said the same. They not only massaged but they also stretched out our achy muscles. I also had been dealing with a left shoulder pinched nerve for more than 6 months causing discomfort when I moved my shoulder a certain way. After the session, I no longer felt that discomfort. I'm not sure if this is temporary or she fixed it but I was so happy to be able to move my shoulder again without any limitations or discomfort.

The recipient wears loose, comfortable clothing and lies on a mat or firm mattress on the floor. In Thailand, a dozen or so subjects may be receiving massage simultaneously in one large room. The true ancient style of the massage requires that the massage be performed solo with just the giver and receiver. The receiver will be positioned in a variety of yoga-like positions during the course of the massage, that is also combined with deep static and rhythmic pressures.
One of the biggest benefits is the relaxation that comes from it. Numerous studies have shown that those who have massages are more relaxed, and many seek out massage as a form of relaxation. This, paired with the yoga-like elements of Thai massage, which is also relaxing, ensures that Thai massage can help even the most tense person find relaxation. Along with this, Thai massage is an excellent way to relieve stress. Since stress can have long-term and serious effects on the body and mind, using Thai massage to help relieve stress will help improve overall health.

I'm no newbie when it comes to receiving massage therapy. I periodically indulge myself to a 60-minute session when I travel for work (I'm way too busy at home to do this!) Having had scoliosis since a child and receiving chiropractic for almost 30 years, I find that a good massage therapist complements my chiropractic care. Of all the massage therapists I've seen for the past ten years, Thai Massage Therapy is head and shoulders above the rest! For the first time, I received help for my sciatic issues, as well as pressure point treatment, lymphatic massage, and helpful stretching. Quite painful at various points, my therapist nevertheless knew exactly how to focus on on the most problematic areas. It's the kind of discomfort I know is productive and healing - for greater flexibility, pressure point release, muscle relaxation, resulting in improved function of my joints and systems. Go see them! I can't highly recommend them enough!!!
