My husband and I come here frequently. He has sciatic, psoas pain and I have all sorts of pain (tmj, neck, back, metatarsalgia, de quervain, etc lol). He discovered this thru yelp, after trying out numerous massage services in the bay area & weve almost given up. We never considered going to a Chiro either. Thai massage is hard massage, we just couldn't get anywhere else. We tried many other massage places but we always come back here. Unlike other massage places, any staff you get here will give you the same effect, and no one is not good enough or no single staff stands out cause any of them does. There's no one massager that you need to wait for to get an appointment. We call to schedule an appt but we never request for anyone and still get the same results. Their massage is like assisted yoga, take a pause here and imagine that...I mean, dont drink anything with milk or whipped cream, if youre even slightly lactose intolerant...before the sesh...if u get what i mean. Their restroom is nice too. The trick is to not resist but to trust, give in and relax your body while they're doing their thing. We call this our "therapy". We do feel like newborns every after session, ready to go back to our desk jobs, fresh. Sometimes, after the massage, we eat at the next door Vietnamese restaurant. It feels like a mini quick vacation.
I was pretty excited to visit Erawan based on the great reviews it received. However, the masseuse… I was pretty excited to visit Erawan based on the great reviews it received. However, the masseuse twisted my neck too hard (or in a wrong way?) during one of the Thai massage stretches. I woke up the next day with a ton of neck soreness, but I tried to shrug it off as normal post-massage soreness. But ever since the day after until now (5 days later), the pain has been excruciating and I've barely been able to move my neck. To make matters worse, I was here in Japan for my honeymoon so it made it really hard for me to enjoy the week. Visitors beware! Read more

After I expressed I didn't feel satisfied from that massage with Marisa because I needed more pressure, the owner / manager was extremely concerned that I was disappointed by a gentler massage and enticed me to come back to get the type of massage my body needed! I've been to well over 100 different massage places and Siam orchid Thai massage has the best customer service. No proprietor has ever been so concerned or kind after my experience was not great. I am very impressed and appreciate them.
Some studies are backing the benefits these massages claim to have. One study suggests that a traditional Thai massage could be used as a complementary therapy for autistic children in Thailand. Another study suggested that patients suffering from back pain associated with myofascial trigger points (the connective tissue that holds us together) should consider receiving Thai massages as an alternative primary health care treatment.
Great Siam Thai massage, reasonable price both cash and credit card because of the same price. Everyone who love massage should try at this new spa and it's so cool in Quincy, MA. We can open the new chance to have new warm feelings, not boring past experiences in longs time ago spa. Here can give you more comfortable mind and I will be definitely come back. Every therapists are very nice and polite.
The massage started off rather mediocre, kind of like a first blind date where you don't expect much. We talked the whole time, and I was totally fine with that, and about 30 minutes in I thought - meh, nothing great. She started working towards my legs, but I had told her in the beginning that my shoulders were the culprit of my pain for over a month. Mid conversation I politely asked to refocus on my shoulders and THAT'S when the magic happened. She worked them bad boys like a scorned ex gf. I'm hurting today, but I feel so much better. Granted, not ALL my pain is gone, but I feel much more comfortable going through my day today.
The best massage place ever. The price is reasonable, the massage is good and for me the place is very convenient. I've been going here for almost 2 years after being convinced to get a massage by my wife. Almost every massage I've had has been great and some have been amazing. I prefer a deep massage with lots of stretching, but on the occasions where I want something less vigorous, they listen and back down. I highly recommend.

Thai massage draws significant influence from India's ancient Ayurvedic traditions of medical practice. Ayurvedic medicine, also a holistic form of healing, plays an integral role in the practice of both Hinduism and Therevada Buddhism. Monks and similar practitioners of healing transmitted Ayurvedic techniques to Thailand some 2,500 years ago, thus giving birth to the wonderful phenomenon that is Thai massage.
They are so nice too. The girls really seem to care about your needs and wants for your back and/or muscle areas. Also, the strength of the massage you are looking for they stick to. I recommend the Swedish/deep muscle mix massage. It’s the perfect mix of stretching and deep muscle work (or as deep as you want it to be). I love it and always leave feeling relaxed and much more flexible/loose. I highly recommend this Spa.
Thai massage has been practiced in America since the 1990s when Westerners began practicing it. Thai massage is more commonly found than it used to be at American spas, but you can't find it everywhere for two reasons. First, the spa needs a room with a large, padded mat in order to offer Thai massage. It's easiest if the room is always set up for Thai massage, and yet it is more of a specialty request. It just makes more economic sense to have the room set up with a table for a Swedish massage.

The founder of Thai massage and medicine is said to have been Shivago Komarpaj (ชีวกโกมารภัจจ์ Jīvaka Komarabhācca), who is said in the Pāli Buddhist canon to have been the Buddha's physician over 2,500 years ago. He is noted in ancient documents for his extraordinary medical skills, his knowledge of herbal medicine, and for having treated important people of his day, including the Buddha himself.

AD 1878: Dutch massage practitioner Johan Georg Mezger applies French terms to name five basic massage techniques, and coins the phrase "Swedish massage system". These techniques are still known by their French names (effleurage (long, gliding strokes), petrissage (lifting and kneading the muscles), friction (firm, deep, circular rubbing movements), tapotement (brisk tapping or percussive movements), and vibration (rapidly shaking or vibrating specific muscles)).
Sciatic nerve pain is experienced by many women in late pregnancy as the uterus rests on muscles of the pelvic floor and lower back. The pressure of the uterus spreads tension to the muscles of the upper and lower legs, causing them to swell and put pressure on nearby nerves. Massage therapy addresses the inflamed nerves by helping to release the tension on nearby muscles. Many women have experienced significant reduction in sciatic nerve pain during pregnancy through regular massage. Other potential benefits of prenatal massage include: reducing back pain, joint pain, muscle tension, headaches, stress, anxiety and promoting blood circulation by improving oxygenation of soft tissues and muscles.
A considerable amount of privacy is allotted in most places offering Thai massage, making it an ideal solution for the individual who isn't quite up for the challenge of yoga. Let's face it, not everyone is equipped with the physique or poise necessary to squeeze into spandex and curl into the Downward Facing Dog position. Yoga, for the most part, is available in group sessions. Though spandex is not a requirement, it's not uncommon to practice among a variety of other adults, all of whom happen to be more flexible than you. For a more intimate experience, Thai massage manages to produce similar somatic results without the awkwardness of being observed by seemingly elastic peers.
This energy-based, traditional Thai massage, focuses on feet and reflexology, up to the knees, using a wooden therapy stick, massage oil from Wat Po in Thailand and massage cream. reflexology points on the soles of the feet are associated with particular body organs. Pressure on specific points helps stimulate activities of the inner organs, promotes deep relaxation and improves blood circulation. $73 / 1 hr. $100 / 1.5 hrs.
I've been looking for a good traditional Thai massage place in Oakland and haven't found one yet. I was randomly in Albany getting car repair and was surprised first at the huge number of massage places in 3 blocks. I checked the reviews on Yelp and folks were right this place is 100% legit. I've had a good number of Thai massages and this place was great and reasonable price.
Sometimes confused with pressure point massage, this involves deactivating trigger points that may cause local pain or refer pain and other sensations, such as headaches, in other parts of the body. Manual pressure, vibration, injection, or other treatment is applied to these points to relieve myofascial pain. Trigger points were first discovered and mapped by Janet G. Travell (President Kennedy's physician) and David Simons. Trigger points have been photomicrographed and measured electrically and in 2007 a paper was presented showing images of Trigger Points using MRI. These points relate to dysfunction in the myoneural junction, also called neuromuscular junction (NMJ), in muscle, and therefore this technique is different from reflexology, acupressure and pressure point massage.
