If you don't like intense pressure and pain therefrom, Marisa is better for you. One day I got a Groupon (15 min foot, 60 min thai body massage, and steam room access) and went to book with someone Yelp said did deep tissue well, rainy, because Anna wasn't available. I booked with rainy but was given Marisa, whose massage was nice but gentler and did not meet my expectations for extreme deep pressure and good therapeutic pain from tension dissolving in knots.
In the recent report on Thai traditional massage, Yoopat et al. reported their observation on three varieties of Thai traditional massage and concluded that “some forearm fatigue was decreased significantly among the three massage techniques.” In fact, Thai traditional massage is a widely used massage technique in Thailand and is presently accepted by the Thai Ministry of Public Health. The technique can be described to be a kind of acupressure massage. Kumnerddee noted that Thai traditional massage was effective in bringing about muscle relaxation but that the technique was inferior to the worldwide well-known Chinese acupuncture.
Structural Integration's aim is to unwind the strain patterns residing in the body's myofascial system, restoring it to its natural balance, alignment, length, and ease. This is accomplished by deep, slow, fascial and myofascial manipulation, coupled with movement re-education. Various brands of Structural Integration are Rolfing, Hellerwork, Guild for Structural Integration, Aston Patterning, Soma, and Kinesis Myofascial Integration.
I made my appointment last minutes for my sister bday present, the owner was very helpful and happily squeezing us in their pack schedule. She was very considerate and went out of her way to make sure we got the right masseuse according on how we would like our massage. We felt welcomed from the beginning when we got there to the end of our visit. The room was very relaxing, clean, and orderly. Fresh robes were also provided while waiting. The masseuse was perfect, asked through out the whole process to make sure they were giving the right pressure. The owner even checked in on us to make sure we were well taken care of. Before we left we were offered tea and the ginger tea was decadent . Thanks to this great experience I had recommended them to my friend and myself to visit them monthly. Ps: they give a lot of time for you to prepare urself, and since the decoration is so adorable we took some picture just for the fun of it
First time at this spa for me, after reading reviews I realized that language might be a problem. I went in to get a deep tissue massage and had problems with arthritis in my shoulder, summer worked extra on my shoulder and the massage was wonderful I read cupping was included in the massage and it was not , but that would have taken time from my massage so no problem. Not what I consider a spa but a great massage, very authentic Chinese massage

In Germany massage is regulated by the government on a federal and national level. Only someone who has completed 3,200 hours of training (theoretical and practical) can use the professional title "Masseur und Medizinischer Bademeister" or Medical Masseur and Spa Therapist. This person can prolong his training depending on the length of professional experience to a Physiotherapist (1 year to 18 months additional training). The Masseur is trained in Classical Massage, Myofascial Massage, Exercise and Movement Therapy. During the training they will study: Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Gynecology, Podiatry, Psychiatry, Psychology, Surgery, and probably most importantly Dermiatry and Orthopedics. They are trained in Electrotherapy, and Hydrotherapy. Hydrotherapy includes: Kneipp, Wraps, underwater Massage, therapeutic washing, Sauna and Steambath. A small part of their training will include special forms of massage which are decided by the local college, for example: Foot reflex zone massage, Thai Massage etc. Finally a graduate is allowed to treat patients under the direction of a doctor. He is regulated by the professional body which regulates Physiotherapists. This includes the restriction on advertising and oath of confidentiality to clients.
Massage is hindered from reaching the gold standard of scientific research, which includes placebo-controlled and double blind clinical trials. Developing a "sham" manual therapy for massage would be difficult since even light touch massage could not be assumed to be completely devoid of effects on the subject. It would also be difficult to find a subject that would not notice that they were getting less of a massage, and it would be impossible to blind the therapist. Massage can employ randomized controlled trials, which are published in peer reviewed medical journals. This type of study could increase the credibility of the profession because it displays that purported therapeutic effects are reproducible.
In both Eastern and Western healing systems, the concept of maintaining balance or equilibrium is considered crucial to good health. 'Sen' are considered passages for energy, and correspond with blood vessels in the body. Traditional Thai healing practices suggest that when the 'Sen' become blocked, energy grows stagnant and the body loses its balance, leading to a range of ailments. Thai massage acts as an external stimulant to produce specific internal effects within the body, both freeing energy from obstruction and preserving health and harmony.

There may be other possible adverse effects which need to be focussed upon, such as the risk of fracture due to rough massage. One example is a report from Malaysia on serious spine fracture resulting in spinal cord compression due to traditional massage (Malaysia is a country geographically close to Thailand and shares a few traditional medical practices). There can also be neurological side effects due to massage and need investigation. Although there has never been any official report about this, the problem of brain hemorrhage in infants due to traditional massage applied to the mothers during pregnancy has been reported.[6,7] In fact, application of traditional massage to infants can directly cause testes hemorrhage and such other internal hemorrhages in infants. Finally, the risk of embolism due to applying massage to carotid area needs to be mentioned. This can be the cause of cardiac arrhythmias and cerebrovascular accidents that can further result in sudden death (in the latest indexed case, this cannot be rule out to be a cause). It will be of interest to note that in the present clinical practice, there are no guidelines for the practitioners for history taking and monitoring of vital signs of the patient before, during and after massage.
Part of the 90 minute massage also involved stretching certain muscles. At the end of the 90 minutes, even though I was a little bit sore from the deep tissue massage, I felt a lot better. When the massage was over, I got dressed, went to the front counter, and paid as well as left a tip. While I used the Lyft app on my phone to get ride to get back to the Strip, I was offered a loyalty card. The only thing about the loyalty card is that it was created/made for 60 minute massages and not 90 minute massages since a 90 minute massage only gets 1 stamp on the card.
While on vacation in Las Vegas, my upper back, shoulders, and neck were starting to get tired/tight from me lugging around my camera gear (DSLR camera, battery grip/pack, & speedlight flash) around my neck for 4 days at roughly 4 hours each day. My legs and feet were also tired from all the walking, standing, and running on the Strip. I was looking for a massage and the place that I was staying at offered massages but I found the prices to be too expensive. I had also tried the water massage beds offered in some malls (including the Showcase Mall) and although those water massage beds were relaxing, I preferred a more firm, deep tissue type massage to try to get rid of the knots that I was sure were building up in my shoulders & upper back. As luck would have it, there was a discussion forum about firm, deep tissue massages in the Las Vegas Talk forum. I checked out the prices and the review and called to make an appointment. Even factoring the Lyft ride to/from the place, I calculated the price to be less than how much it would cost me to get a similar type massage at the place I was staying at or any Strip hotel spa. I arrived early and was told that I should come back in ~30 minutes. Since the temperature was cold outside, I asked if I could stay inside and there wasn't an issue. I was told that I could lay on the bed while I waited but I decided I would just sit there. I used the Yelp app on my phone to check in and there was a discount. I spoke with the person behind the counter about the discount and I was informed that because I wanted a 90 minute massage and the 90 minute massage was already discounted, it would not apply. When the person was ready I was escorted to the room. Inside the room there were 2 massage beds. I was asked how long I wanted and I mentioned that I wanted 90 minutes. I was then asked to undress and go underneath the towel. I was told that this place also specializes in back walking so I requested a few minutes of that. Above the massage tables are 2 bars so the massage therapist can hold on as to not apply all her weight on the customer. I thought that I could handle firm massages but Kim gave me one of the firmest, deep tissue massages that I've ever experienced. The oil that she used had a burning and soothing feeling to it. If you like firm (deep tissue) massages, this is the place to go.
One of the most remarkable healing techniques on the planet. Works with the pulses of the energy pathways known as meridians in Chinese medicine. The term tui na (pronounced "twee naw"), which literally means "pinch and pull," refers to a wide range of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapeutic massage and body work. People in the West may refer to Chinese massage as tui na.
Siam's location is in mid-Market; not the best location and parking can be a challenging (best to use Uber or Lyft). But inside the environment is very serene with wood interior and the sound of water flowing. They have a large number of masseuses here at any given time- I believe ~8 so they often have availability, provided you schedule. Cost is $90 for a 1 hour swedish oil massage, and $5 discount if you pay by cash. Some of the masseuses have their own unique hours; for example Judy often starts at 2 PM on. You can also request a massage table if you prefer (which is elevated and I find allows for better breathing), versus the ground mat that is common in thai massage. Siam also has a steam room which is extra and showers.

Thai massage, long considered a medical treatment in Thailand, the therapist puts you through a series of stretches that cover the entire body. (That’s why it’s often called lazy man’s yoga.) You lie on a floor mat or on a table wide enough to accommodate the therapist, and you wear loose-fitting clothing (often supplied by the spa), because there’s no way a sheet can stay put during these moves—the therapist might kneel on the back of your legs and pull your arms to arch your back and open your chest, or place her shoulder under your heel to lift your leg and stretch your hamstring. Thai massage also includes deep-pressure point work to stimulate the sen, or the body’s energy pathways.
The difference between the two exercises is that during a massage, it's the responsibility of the massage therapist to carry out the work, while the individual on the receiving end reaps the benefits. Increased flexibility, oxygenation of the blood, postural alignment, and elongated muscles are all prospective enhancements resulting from a session of Thai massage. Fluidly, one's body is positioned by another in a series of poses aiming to promote health and relaxation. Yoga requires poses to be achieved through the efforts of a single person, and the notion of contorting oneself while concurrently meditating is no simple task. Thai massage is, in fact, yoga for those of us who are inherently unmotivated.
I'm glad we did. This was the best massage I've ever had. My husband said the same. They not only massaged but they also stretched out our achy muscles. I also had been dealing with a left shoulder pinched nerve for more than 6 months causing discomfort when I moved my shoulder a certain way. After the session, I no longer felt that discomfort. I'm not sure if this is temporary or she fixed it but I was so happy to be able to move my shoulder again without any limitations or discomfort.
After numerous recommendations I finally booked an appt. The staff was very attentive very knowledgeable and I feel like a million bucks. I have only had one other massage that compares and that was at one of the top massage houses in Japan I give them five stars. You won’t be disappointed my therapist name is Kitty don’t be fooled by her size she has some power in those fingers. Don’t make the same mistake I did and procrastinate call today for and appointment.
Biomechanical stimulation (BMS) is a term generally used for localised biomechanical oscillation methods, whereby local muscle groups are stimulated directly or via the associated tendons by means of special hand held mechanical vibration devices. Biomechanical oscillation therapy and training is offered in a variety of areas such as competitive sports, fitness, rehabilitation, medicine, prevention, beauty, and used to improve performance of the muscles and to improve coordination and balance. It is often used in the Myofascial trigger point therapy concept to invoke reciprocal inhibition within the musculoskeletal system. Beneficial effects from this type of stimulation have been found to exist, the efficacy of the BMS Matrix therapy was proven in an independent study. carried out by TÜV-Süd which was commissioned by German health insurer BKK Gesundheit.

I had heard so many positive things about this place from friends, but am not really into the walking on my back and popping my joints scene so I avoided it. Fast forward to today my lower back was in so much pain I could barely move. My normal massage guy was booked, so I relented. BEST DECISION!! Noy eased by back pain, and eliminated knots I didn't even know I had. I will be going back here soon. Noy was magic.
The most widely recognized and commonly used category of massage is the Swedish massage. The Swedish massage techniques vary from light to vigorous. Swedish massage uses five styles of strokes. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber or with the fibers) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee over a period of eight weeks. The development of Swedish massage is often inaccurately credited to Per Henrik Ling, though the Dutch practitioner Johann Georg Mezger applied the French terms to name the basic strokes. The term "Swedish" massage is actually only recognized in English and Dutch speaking countries, and in Hungary. Elsewhere the style is referred to as "classic massage".
A couple days after the Thai massage, my back pain seemed worse than ever. I updated my review and was almost immediately contacted my Siam. They really care about how their customers feel! We spoke and she suggested I try the aroma massage instead. Thai massage just isn't for everyone I think! Also, I really didn't know what I was getting myself into and probably didn't need strong pressure. Anyway, I came back for the aroma which is like a combination of Swedish & Thai - it was great. All the stretching and deep muscle work of Thai with the relaxation of a Swedish massage. I'll definitely be back for another! Thanks Siam Orchid!
3. Pull as much as you push. North Americans are accustomed to massages that involve using pressure, but Vietnamese massage takes it one step further and also incorporates a lot of pulling. Tugging at the limbs is a different way of encouraging blood circulation and also helps to reset joints. Hold your partner’s limb at the wrist and elbow or ankle and knee, and pull toward you. Also try slightly twisting the limb and pulling in various directions.
