I'd been in Tokyo, Japan for four days and have done extensive walking. I had been feeling pain to my feet and hip.  I finally decided to Yelp a place and saw good reviews. I made my appointment through Yelp. Make sure you give them the day, time, name and type of service on your first communication. My boyfriend booked our first full body Thai couples massage (literally our FIRST massage experience) here at Siam Thai. We've heard about many massage places but decided to have it here due to the various options and two different atmospheres (modern and vintage) at the Century Center. There's a private lot to park at. The fee (no matter how long we park) is $2 flat! Just don't forget to get it validated prior to leaving. He made a night reservation at their "modern" location for my birthday. We walked into the room and was greeted with a lovely scent, great night view of Waikiki, and a beautiful heart design to take pictures of/with. After entering, don't forget to take your shoes off! We were greeted by the owner, Tanya, and offered water as soon as we entered and waited for our room. She kept us company and led us to our room with two massage beds and another grand view. We were instructed on how to prepare as we waited a little longer for our masseuses to arrive. Being the awkward first timers we were, we actually didn't know what to actually do and expect. But our masseuses, Mary and Claudia, were very patient with us! Mary, my masseuse, began on my upper back and worked her way down to my legs and then arms (my favorite part). And surprisingly, I had a lot of knots, especially on my upper back. There were these two knots that would not budge unless I got the really deeeeep massage (but my body's too weak). Mary tried her best to press out my knots without hurting me (thumbs up to her!). She put coconut oil over my body as she worked, making it easier for area transitions. The oil felt more like a lotion combination, smoothing and rejuvenating my skin. In the end, we were offered water or tea. Siam Thai definitely takes pride in caring for their customers! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our time at Siam Thai and will definitely be back for more massages. Especially trying to press those knots out of my upper back! The interior was beautifully done, service was superb, and the massage was excellent. Next time, we'll try out their other services!

The benefits of receiving a Thai massage are vague, at best. While it is easy to say that Thai massages are good for you in the short-term, any scientific evidence backing this information is certainly lacking. That being said, there are some obvious benefits. For one, it feels incredible. It relieves stress and tension in joints and muscles. This is such an unusual place. Not sure how they got all these fabulous reviews. The first time I decided to try it, I called and made an appointment. The woman who answered the phone didn't really speak english, so when I told her that I wanted to make an appointment she kept saying "ok ok ok". I felt that she didn't understand. I showed up to the appointment the following day and the person at the front was so confused when I told her I had an appointment. Needless to say she begrudgingly took me back to a room and left. Another woman comes in and starts massaging. As she is massaging I notice loud chewing sounds. Turns out she was chewing gum loudly and popping it too! I had never experienced anything like that during a msaage! The massage itself was ok with deep pressure, and they offered cupping therapy. They never bother to ask you why you are there or what your preferences are. Even when I kept asking her to focus on my neck and shoulders she just tried to follow her own routine and seemed annoyed. I decided to give it another try, so called again to make an appointment, and sure enough a woman answered and seemed confused when I requested the appointment. I asked if summer was there since I read great reviews about her. The woman started yelling at me!!! Honestly this place is so shady and unprofessional, I don't know how hell they got all these supposed stellar reviews on multipe sites like tripadvisor and thumbtack. For 70$ you can find so many other wonderful, professional and attentive massage places in the area.

I later found out if you're asked if you prefer a male or female massage therapist at check in, when you already booked a particular person online, then you won't be getting who you requested, so double check who you're getting if that happens to you if you're expecting to get a specified massage therapist. After I expressed I didn't feel satisfied from that massage with Marisa because I needed more pressure, the owner / manager was extremely concerned that I was disappointed by a gentler massage and enticed me to come back to get the type of massage my body needed! I've been to well over 100 different massage places and Siam orchid Thai massage has the best customer service. No proprietor has ever been so concerned or kind after my experience was not great. I am very impressed and appreciate them. The foot massage was gentler, not like some other places where I start to sweat from the pain/stimulation of imbalanced acupressure points. Super relaxing and firm(not ticklish). The ambience is very nice, all wooden with orchids with incense or candles scent wafting about and steam coming out of a humidifier in the hallway. The room itself for massage is nice: private, spacious with relaxing zen music playing. You don't really hear any other movement or customers in the hallway. Very tranquil ambience. They pay attention to cute and chill details. You get some loose pajamas to wear. If you can, I recommend the steam room access. After the massage you bring your stuff to the back where the steam room is. Looked clean. There are locks and lockers to stow your belongings. I noticed they had flat iron and curling iron to touch up your hair.

Carotid sinus massage is used to diagnose carotid sinus syncope and is sometimes useful for differentiating supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) from ventricular tachycardia.
