Thai massage, long considered a medical treatment in Thailand, the therapist puts you through a series of stretches that cover the entire body. (That’s why it’s often called lazy man’s yoga.) You lie on a floor mat or on a table wide enough to accommodate the therapist, and you wear loose-fitting clothing (often supplied by the spa), because there’s no way a sheet can stay put during these moves—the therapist might kneel on the back of your legs and pull your arms to arch your back and open your chest, or place her shoulder under your heel to lift your leg and stretch your hamstring. Thai massage also includes deep-pressure point work to stimulate the sen, or the body’s energy pathways.
Thai massage – or Nuat Thai – combines both physical and energetic aspects. It is a deep, full-body massage progressing from the feet up, and focusing on sen or energy lines throughout the body, with the aim of clearing blockages in these lines, and thus stimulating the flow of blood and lymph throughout the body. It draws on yoga, acupressure and reflexology.
I would say it's a fair estimate that I have gotten 100 plus massages in my lifetime. I don't recall a time getting massage this amazing. Admittedly, this is my first Thai massage ever so I don't know if this is just how it is. However, I can say and that it was easily in my top 3 best massages ever. I'm already excited to book my next appointment for this place. The service was so amazing that I actually signed up for a Yelp account just so I could leave this feedback. If you are looking for the best professional massage that you've ever had, book an appointment here.

Came here on a Sunday for my first Thai massage ever! My therapist was Eva–it was quite enjoyable, not sure if it was “amazing” since it was my first one. I had the Thai-Swedish combo and I felt like they could have worked on my back more though. The ladies were very nice, and the ambience pretty relaxing, I would definitely come back for the price and location, and happy hours are weekdays $45 before 2:00 pm. Free street parking on Sunday, otherwise they have a lot in the back, but limited parking spots. Overall did the job and got the relaxation I was overdue for!

Tui na is a branch of Chinese medicine, which looks at the underlying causes of pain and illness as well as the symptoms. Because Tui na massage can be very relaxing, it is particularly useful to relieve anxiety and stress, promote relaxation and aid sleep. Like other forms of massage, it can be used preventatively, to encourage the movement of Qi (vital energy) and Blood. Tui na can be used in conjunction with the other branches of traditional Chinese medicine such as Acupuncture.

Forty-three states, the District of Columbia and five Canadian provinces currently offer some type of credential to professionals in the massage and bodywork field—usually licensure, certification or registration.[78][117] Thirty-eight states and the District of Columbia require some type of licensing for massage therapists.[118] In the US, 39 states use the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork's certification program as a basis for granting licenses either by rule or statute.[119] The National Board grants the designation Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB). There are two tests available and one can become certified through a portfolio process with equivalent training and experience.[120] Between 10% and 20% of towns or counties regulate the profession.[96] The National Certification offered by the NCBTMB does not mean that someone can practice massage in any state.[121] These local regulations can range from prohibition on opposite sex massage, fingerprinting and venereal checks from a doctor, to prohibition on house calls because of concern regarding sale of sexual services.[96][122]

A hot stone massage uses water-heated stones to apply pressure and heat to the body. Stones coated in oil can also be used by the therapist delivering various massaging strokes. The hot stones used are commonly Basalt stones (or lava rocks) which over time have become extremely polished and smooth. As the stones are placed along the recipient’s back, they help to retain heat which then deeply penetrates into the muscles, releasing tension.

So glad I came here yesterday. I typically go to a Thai massage down the street but they were not available. So I tried this place out. The owner knows how to run her business and her staff was on point. My massage therapist, Hannah was a sweetheart and she made me very comfortable. Her authentic Thai style massage was incredible. I even loved taking a shower in the shower room after my scrub. The clean towels were so soft and smelled good. Excellent level of cleanliness here.

After a quick foot soak and brush we were taken to our private room with 2 beds and asked to get ready. What an experience! For someone who's used to having the odd massage at a beauty salon or spa, Ive never really seen what the deal was, they never did anything for me and I just felt oily after. What a difference! This is the best Ive felt in a long time! Such a great massage, as I was feeling a bit tight, I asked not for a full body massage, but a focus on a back, neck and shoulders. Ive never felt pain like it, or heard as many clicks or crunches buy oh my was it worth it!

Thai massage isn’t nicknamed “yoga for lazy people” for nothing. Clients such as Pete who are into performance don’t necessarily take adequate time for stretching compared to how hard they push their bodies. Roger still isn’t totally comfortable with taking his clothes off and he likes that some of the Thai stretches he can do at home in between treatments.
It's been about a week since I went. I was definitely pleased with my massage. I have gone to a place in mililani but My husbands client recommended I go here so I said "hey why not it's another massage therapist recommending me go there" so I did. It was the best he ever. I dozed off here and there. Wasn't to rough on me. I'm super sensitive to people rubbing my knots. They usually are painful but not here. I'll definitely be going back in a few weeks. The staff was super nice. I enjoyed my ginger honey tea after my massage as well. Much mahalos ladies. Recommendation for first timers- make sure after a massage you drink plenty of water. Massages are like work outs. Stay hydrated.

I'd been in Tokyo, Japan for four days and have done extensive walking. I had been feeling pain to my feet and hip. I finally decided to Yelp a place and saw good reviews. I made my appointment through Yelp. Make sure you give them the day, time, name and type of service on your first communication. It's helpful...I finally came here and felt so much more flexible and the pain on my hip is gone. My feet may require rest to not feel anything but certainly feel so much better. The staff is wonderful and are very careful with the stretches they do. I highly recommend to make the trip here. Is worth it!

Relax your mind and body with traditional Thai herbal treatment. The session begins with sensuous foot spa & reflexology, followed by Thai-style deep massage with herbal heat therapy and a soothing aroma massage then herbal exfoliating massage This makes for a great spa getaway with your significant other without leaving San Francisco. 2 hrs. / $365 - for couple (gratuity included)
On the last day of a birthday trip to Vegas I was feeling a little sore and strung out from all of the partying. I couldn't think of a better way to feel rejuvenated and relax before my evening flight. A friendly, professional, very thorough couples Thai massage for $140/hr The establishment was comfortable, clean and relaxing. Was worth every penny and I'll be back on the next Las Vegas getaway.
After I told my 1sf therapist as a walk in that I had lots of lower back and hip pain she started treament by after 5 min she had a more important client walk in so I was pushed off to someone who never heard why I was there.  After 10-15 min of a kitty cat pawing treatment I was suppose to be happpy. I asked to pay more For  a deep  tissue treatment but she said she didn't understand the English I was speaking. Of chourse 2 min after that she knew "do u pay cash" and "how much tip" "how much tip?'
Judy is my favorite masseuse. She is very good at calibrating pressure based on what you ask for. Her technique is terrific. She is also very sweet and cares about her customers. I have a few massage places walking distance from where I live but I still come here once a week. Siam's location is in mid-Market; not the best location and parking can be a challenging (best to use Uber or Lyft). But inside the environment is very serene with wood interior and the sound of water flowing. They have a large number of masseuses here at any given time- I believe ~8 so they often have availability, provided you schedule. Cost is $90 for a 1 hour swedish oil massage, and $5 discount if you pay by cash. Some of the masseuses have their own unique hours; for example Judy often starts at 2 PM on. You can also request a massage table if you prefer (which is elevated and I find allows for better breathing), versus the ground mat that is common in thai massage. Siam also has a steam room which is extra and showers. One of the reasons I like Siam and Judy in particular is she learns really well what works for your body. She will find tension in my shoulder and work on it without my saying anything. Also I found some Thai massages use significant pressure as a baseline and don't always deviate from it. Here, you can get a strong or a gentle massage depending on your preference. The front-desk is friendly and helpful. My advice is schedule a day or two in advance if you want to book for Friday or Saturday as the schedule gets full quickly. There are $40 foot massages in San Francisco and I do find some of those convenient. But one difference is in how you feel after and for that reason, I often come here.

Gabi M: "Do you want to join me for a massage after dinner?" Me: "Of course!" (I'm not one to ever pass up a relaxing massage) Gabi: "It's a thai massage so I'm not sure you'll like it" Me: "A massage? What's not to like" Hours later I'm ready for my relaxing massage and a few minutes in I realize thai massages are NOT my usual relaxing massage. The masseuse is literally kneeling on my back getting every single knot (and I have a lot of them!) out while I say "ouch" about every 3 seconds. She continues to tell me "relax" throughout the massage and I continue to respond with "ouch." She then asks me if I want her to walk on my back..."umm no thank you!" An hour later I have every knot out of my body, but I wonder how anyone could stand more than 60 minutes of this torture. I paid my $90 + tip, enjoyed a small cup of decaffeinated tea and headed back to the hotel for a lovely night of kid free sleep. The next morning I woke up with such sore shoulders although after an hour of (additional) torture at Barry's Boot Camp felt really good. In fact, I may even make a trip to Siam Orchard a regular thing during my monthly trips to SF.
Some studies are backing the benefits these massages claim to have. One study suggests that a traditional Thai massage could be used as a complementary therapy for autistic children in Thailand. Another study suggested that patients suffering from back pain associated with myofascial trigger points (the connective tissue that holds us together) should consider receiving Thai massages as an alternative primary health care treatment.
My boyfriend booked our first full body Thai couples massage (literally our FIRST massage experience) here at Siam Thai. We've heard about many massage places but decided to have it here due to the various options and two different atmospheres (modern and vintage) at the Century Center. There's a private lot to park at. The fee (no matter how long we park) is $2 flat! Just don't forget to get it validated prior to leaving. He made a night reservation at their "modern" location for my birthday. We walked into the room and was greeted with a lovely scent, great night view of Waikiki, and a beautiful heart design to take pictures of/with. After entering, don't forget to take your shoes off! We were greeted by the owner, Tanya, and offered water as soon as we entered and waited for our room. She kept us company and led us to our room with two massage beds and another grand view. We were instructed on how to prepare as we waited a little longer for our masseuses to arrive. Being the awkward first timers we were, we actually didn't know what to actually do and expect. But our masseuses, Mary and Claudia, were very patient with us! Mary, my masseuse, began on my upper back and worked her way down to my legs and then arms (my favorite part). And surprisingly, I had a lot of knots, especially on my upper back. There were these two knots that would not budge unless I got the really deeeeep massage (but my body's too weak). Mary tried her best to press out my knots without hurting me (thumbs up to her!). She put coconut oil over my body as she worked, making it easier for area transitions. The oil felt more like a lotion combination, smoothing and rejuvenating my skin. In the end, we were offered water or tea. Siam Thai definitely takes pride in caring for their customers! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our time at Siam Thai and will definitely be back for more massages. Especially trying to press those knots out of my upper back! The interior was beautifully done, service was superb, and the massage was excellent. Next time, we'll try out their other services!
Burynski came home and saw how quickly she could help clients with chronic problems. As she began to integrate Thai massage stretches into her table massage, her clients would speak up: “That feels amazing,” they would say. Eventually, Burynski returned to Thailand for further instruction, and then went on to become an instructor, opening her own Thai massage school, Living Sabai, in Asheville.
