My husband and I come here frequently. He has sciatic, psoas pain and I have all sorts of pain (tmj, neck, back, metatarsalgia, de quervain, etc lol). He discovered this thru yelp, after trying out numerous massage services in the bay area & weve almost given up. We never considered going to a Chiro either. Thai massage is hard massage, we just couldn't get anywhere else. We tried many other massage places but we always come back here. Unlike other massage places, any staff you get here will give you the same effect, and no one is not good enough or no single staff stands out cause any of them does. There's no one massager that you need to wait for to get an appointment. We call to schedule an appt but we never request for anyone and still get the same results. Their massage is like assisted yoga, take a pause here and imagine that...I mean, dont drink anything with milk or whipped cream, if youre even slightly lactose intolerant...before the sesh...if u get what i mean. Their restroom is nice too. The trick is to not resist but to trust, give in and relax your body while they're doing their thing. We call this our "therapy". We do feel like newborns every after session, ready to go back to our desk jobs, fresh. Sometimes, after the massage, we eat at the next door Vietnamese restaurant. It feels like a mini quick vacation.

I've been looking for a good traditional Thai massage place in Oakland and haven't found one yet. I was randomly in Albany getting car repair and was surprised first at the huge number of massage places in 3 blocks. I checked the reviews on Yelp and folks were right this place is 100% legit. I've had a good number of Thai massages and this place was great and reasonable price.
One of the reasons I like Siam and Judy in particular is she learns really well what works for your body. She will find tension in my shoulder and work on it without my saying anything. Also I found some Thai massages use significant pressure as a baseline and don't always deviate from it. Here, you can get a strong or a gentle massage depending on your preference.
I was excited to see Thai Massage has made it to PCB. I was also excited to discover what a gem this place is. After inquiring of my problem areas, Serie suggested I select Thai / Deep Tissue combo. Without a doubt, it was one of the most professional, healing massages I have experienced. Serie is most gracious and knowledgeable and obviously loves her profession.
Me and the mrs go here every month! They massage you exactly how you want it and it feels so nice! They are really nice and sweet but service can be a bit professional. They speak in their own language with each other when they are massaging which does feel awkward not knowing what they are talking about. Other than that its a good place and its value for money as they do a great job...

The ambience is very nice, all wooden with orchids with incense or candles scent wafting about and steam coming out of a humidifier in the hallway. The room itself for massage is nice: private, spacious with relaxing zen music playing. You don't really hear any other movement or customers in the hallway. Very tranquil ambience. They pay attention to cute and chill details.
Not only was there no mat on the floor, just a typical table. Very little of what I got was a Thai massage. In fact, I didnt get any more stretching that one would expect from any typical non Thai massage....so dont.waste your money on a Thai massage...ironically, they have pics on their website that show examples of a proper Thai massage on a typical floor mat. So one could argue false advertising.
I rarely write reviews. I like massage and I have tried a lot of massage places. Finally, I found Siam Orchid! This place is very cute, I have gone through many times but have no chance to try it. One day I was looking Thai massage on Yelp, the siam orchid has a lot of good reviews, so I decided to give them a try. I've been there 3 times, everyone was amazing. Today I need a deep tissue massage so I went there without an appointment. The place is quiet and clean, staffs were friendly and professional. I picked the 90 mins deep tissue massage with the female masseuse, the front desk sent me to the room then ready for my massage. During the massage, my masseuse was pretty professional, she used the right amount of pressure and always asked me If I ok. She recommended walking on my body gently, she has a lot of experience. After my massage my body felt very soft and relaxed. I asked her name which Tanya, I read a lot of good reviews from Tanya. I finally know why Tanya so popular unite I tried her massage!! Lastly Siam Orchid has a discount for weekday 11am-3pm, which more affordable. I will definitely come back again!!
This was just so weird. I got there and they were able to see me immediately. I let them know I am 9 months pregnant and they said no problem, they do prenatal massage. I get in and the therapist was HORRIBLE! She spent 40+ minutes rubbing the middle of my back. That's it. I told her my neck and shoulders and especially my feet hurt and she wouldn't move from the same spot. She finally said we were done and I was shocked! She never rubbed my hands, lower back, neck, or my feet! I mean come on, who doesn't rub a pregnant persons feet? I even checked at the end to see if my feet were gross or something but no, took a shower right before I got there. It was just so strange, I ended up coming home in tears and rubbing myself which would have cost less than the $75 I paid them for absolutely nothing.
The best massage place ever. The price is reasonable, the massage is good and for me the place is very convenient. I've been going here for almost 2 years after being convinced to get a massage by my wife. Almost every massage I've had has been great and some have been amazing. I prefer a deep massage with lots of stretching, but on the occasions where I want something less vigorous, they listen and back down. I highly recommend.
Pain relief: Relief from pain due to musculoskeletal injuries and other causes is cited as a major benefit of massage. A 2015 Cochrane Review concluded that there is very little evidence that massage is an effective treatment for lower back pain. A meta-analysis conducted by scientists at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign failed to find a statistically significant reduction in pain immediately following treatment. Weak evidence suggests that massage may improve pain in the short term for people with acute, sub-acute, and chronic lower back pain.

Giving this place 5 stars doesn't mean I would recommend Chinese Traditional Massage to everyone. If you approach massages as pain relief via eastern Medicine like I benefit, "Summer" could help you greatly My neck/shoulder/back are in constant tension, that the pain cause by my upper body makes me never notice my tired/sore legs from standing from working 40+ hours a week Summer find the nucleus of my neck tension immediately in a way that very few CMTs can & relieves my upper body pain can I comment w/ "How do you know where & how do you relieve it so quickly perfectly?" and Summer responds with something along the lines of "Duh" "That's why you're here" & She's 100% right & worth every penny Then once she handles my neck/shoulder tension, funny enough my legs/ankles/feet tighten up like I've been walking forever which she's provide the same relief where I walk out feeling & might even be taller walking out The best way to get an appt w/ Summer is to call a couple days ahead I get the 90 minute Thai massage for 120$ & it's worth every penny for me This is not Asha, Massage Envy, The Four Seasons, nor a gross place. Always clean & comfortable Their phones ring & front door bell rings & massage gets paused to handle walk-ins/call ins. Summer heals me until my job gets the best of me to then return, So what could be considered interruptions are pauses to me because MY PAIN IS GONE Bonus is the scalp massage & she sits your up on the table & stretches you sitting up making standing up an effortless act
Massage has been shown to reduce neuromuscular excitability by measuring changes in the Hoffman's reflex (H-reflex) amplitude. A decrease in peak-to-peak H-reflex amplitude suggests a decrease in motoneuron excitability. Others explain, "H-reflex is considered to be the electrical analogue of the stretch reflex...and the reduction" is due to a decrease in spinal reflex excitability. Field (2007) confirms that the inhibitory effects are due to deep tissue receptors and not superficial cutaneous receptors, as there was no decrease in H-reflex when looking at light fingertip pressure massage. It has been noted that "the receptors activated during massage are specific to the muscle being massaged", as other muscles did not produce a decrease in H-reflex amplitude.

I made my appointment last minutes for my sister bday present, the owner was very helpful and happily squeezing us in their pack schedule. She was very considerate and went out of her way to make sure we got the right masseuse according on how we would like our massage. We felt welcomed from the beginning when we got there to the end of our visit. The room was very relaxing, clean, and orderly. Fresh robes were also provided while waiting. The masseuse was perfect, asked through out the whole process to make sure they were giving the right pressure. The owner even checked in on us to make sure we were well taken care of. Before we left we were offered tea and the ginger tea was decadent . Thanks to this great experience I had recommended them to my friend and myself to visit them monthly.
3. Pull as much as you push. North Americans are accustomed to massages that involve using pressure, but Vietnamese massage takes it one step further and also incorporates a lot of pulling. Tugging at the limbs is a different way of encouraging blood circulation and also helps to reset joints. Hold your partner’s limb at the wrist and elbow or ankle and knee, and pull toward you. Also try slightly twisting the limb and pulling in various directions.
The main professionals that provide therapeutic massage are massage therapists, athletic trainers, physical therapists and practitioners of many traditional Chinese and other eastern medicines. Massage practitioners work in a variety of medical settings and may travel to private residences or businesses. Contraindications to massage include deep vein thrombosis, bleeding disorders or taking blood thinners such as Warfarin, damaged blood vessels, weakened bones from cancer, osteoporosis, or fractures, and fever.
Middle-Ages: Medical knowledge, including that of massage, made its way from Rome to Persia in the Middle Ages. Many of Galen's manuscripts, for instance, were collected and translated by Hunayn ibn Ishaq in the 9th century. Later in the 11th century copies were translated back into Latin, and again in the 15th and 16th centuries, when they helped enlighten European scholars as to the achievements of the Ancient Greeks. This renewal of the Galenic tradition during the Renaissance played a very important part in the rise of modern science.
A licensed massage therapist should ask you about your health history before the massage. Thai massage may not be safe for someone with health conditions such as disk herniation, osteoporosis, recent surgery, or cardiovascular disease. If you're considering trying Thai massage, it's a good idea to check with your healthcare provider before getting treatment to discuss whether it's appropriate for you.
If I could give it no stars I would, upon entry everything seemed well until they took our payment. The 75 min treatment we were promised, became a 40 min. They kept coming in and out the room stopping our treatment, talking a singing through our treatment, the massage itself was awful at one point she slapped and punched my back several times, I have had Thai massage a lot but never like this, one point I asked her to massage my lower led and she snapped saying I have another client at 4. I was only 30 mins in to my treatment. I got annoyed asks to speak to the manger at this point my therapist is having a go at me saying I have other clients and we are busy, the manager came in shouting denying they agreed to 75 mins saying we never do that and we didn't agree then the argument got confusing as one min they are saying yes it's the same treatment for an hour, the rest of the staff were laughing and some arguing with us, once we got out tried to ring the owner Chris who kept saying he was busy and another staff member complaining to him saying they won't go!! All we wanted to do was to inform them of our consumer rights and to let the boss know that the staff are unprofessional and rude on top of all that they left the room wide open when we were undressed and they had other customers outside! Save your money and time and go else where.
Went here to celebrate my anniversary with the hubs and local or not still loved the view! They welcomed us in quickly and were courteous and polite. It was our first Thai Massage and they literally massaged us from head to toe (we did the couples massage). If you are a light weight go with the light massage, if you are a heavy weight go with the light massage lol. My hubby was so relaxed he started snoring smh. Afterwards the only thing you will want to do is sleep. Trust Me! Immediately afterwards they unexpectedly gave us ginger tea. Best ginger tea I have ever had and with a strong, repeat strong kick to it. It was so perfect after the massage. If you are a professional relaxer or if you need a DEEP massage to get out those kinks definitely check them out!
